De Mol Tokusui Sensei
Mario De Mol Sensei, who goes by the martial name “Tokusui”, has over 40 years of experience in the Japanese arts of kobudo. From his beginnings in jujutsu, in which he achieved the rank of nidan, Tokusui Sensei turned to the ninjutsu path in 1989. His training led him to Japan, where he first met both Masaaki Hatsumi Soke and Fumio Manaka “Unsui” Sensei.
Tokusui Sensei was deeply impressed by the philosophy and authentic mastery of Manaka Unsui Sensei and made the decision to follow him, becoming his dedicated student. When Manaka Sensei founded the Jinenkan in 1996, Tokusui Sensei joined him without hesitation, giving up his previously held rank of godan to start again, as do all students in the Jinenkan, from the beginning as mukyu. From there Tokusui Sensei forged ahead again, traveling to Japan regularly and around the world to train with Manaka Sensei and other high ranking practitioners. He became a licensed dojocho of the JInenkan in 2004, and over the decades and under the continued mentorship of Manaka Sensei he has given seminars all over the world and has trained others in the Jinenkan to become dojocho themselves.
Alongside his focus on and attention to his students Tokusui Sensei continued to forge his own skill and understanding, ultimately attaining the highest achievable ranks in the Jinenkan, as well as menkyo kaiden in the Jinen Ryu. As of today he is the only student of Manaka Sensei to ever have achieved either the rank of kudan (九段), which is the top rank attainable by a student, or judan (十段), which is the rank that clearly set him apart from the other disciples of Manaka Sensei in the year prior to Tokusui Sensei ascending to take over the Jinen Ryu as its new Soke and the Jinenkan and its new Kancho.
The name Tokusui (徳水) is an evolution of the bugo which Manaka Sensei first bestowed upon him in 2010, Tokushi (徳士), which holds the meaning of an incorruptible warrior. It is a melding of that name and Manaka Sensei’s own bugo, Unsui (雲水). This new bugo was honorably received from Unsui Sensei in 2025, to mark his successorship as Soke of the Jinen Ryu and Kancho of the Jissen Kobudo Jinenkan. In this way we may see yet another symbol of the lineage passed down through the generations of masters.
